J. MARK BRITTAIN was born in Atlanta, Georgia on March 28, 1962. He was raised in DeKalb County, Georgia and graduated from Lakeside High School in 1980. He graduated from Georgia State University in 1984 with a B.B.A. degree. He then attended the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University where he received a J.D. degree, graduating in 1987. He was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1988 and is a member of both the Henry County and American Bar Associations.
Mr. Brittain joined the law firm in 1987 upon graduation from law school. Mr. Brittain is the County Guardian and Administrator of Henry County, serving in that capacity since 1992. In the year 2000 he was appointed County Administrator of Butts County. He was a Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of the American Community Bank which merged with First National Bank of Griffin, Georgia in 2002. He was elected to the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Griffin, Georgia in the same year.
Some of his most noted reported cases include: Quillen v. Quillen, 265 Ga. 770 (1995); Tucker Federal Savings and Loan Association v. Rawlins, 209 Ga. App. 619 (1993) and Walker v. Hurd, 195 Ga. App. 855 (1990).
Mr. Brittain married the former Connie Cantrell in 1988, a former Delta Airlines Flight Attendant and graduate of the University of Georgia. They have four children, Jaclynn, Jamilynn, Jordan and Jenae. The family attends Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia.
