C. Walter Pendergrass, III was born in Durham, North Carolina on July 12, 1958. He attended Woodrow Wilson School of Law, where he graduated in 1981. After being admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1981, Mr. Pendergrass was employed as an attorney for an Atlanta real estate corporation until 1986 when he went into private practice. Mr. Pendergrass remained in private practice as a sole practitioner until 1999 when he began his current practice with the law firm of Smith, Welch & Brittain. He is a member of the Real Property section of the State Bar of Georgia.
Mr. Pendergrass married Phyllis White of Henry County in 1986, and they have one son, Michael Walter Pendergrass. They are residents of Henry County and are active members of Philippi Baptist Church of Locust Grove. Mr. Pendergrass, along with his wife, started Children's Church Ministry at The First Baptist Church of Ellenwood and served as the directors of the Ministry for seven years. He has also served as a Sunday School teacher for 17 years.
