Santana T. Flanigan was raised in Conyers, Georgia. He attended Emory University where he participated in residential life, peer assistant leadership, and Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity. Mr. Flanigan graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in English.
Mr. Flanigan attended the University of Georgia School Law where he was an active member of the Student Bar Association, Black Law Student Association, and the Labor and Employment Law Association. He additionally served as Chief Investigator and Prosecutor of the Honor Court, and was on the Davenport-Benham Black Law Students Association Mock Trial Team. While at Georgia, Mr. Flanigan published an article in the Education Law and Policy Online Journal, titled "The Georgia Charter School Act of 1998: Staying True to the General Principles Embraced by the Charter School Movement". He interned with the Georgia Family Violence Clinic and was an intern law clerk for the Honorable Samuel Ozborn, Superior Court Judge for the Alcovy Judicial Circuit.
After graduating from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2006, Mr. Flanigan clerked for the Honorable Cindy Morris, Superior Court Judge for the Conasauga Judicial Circuit and practiced employment and business law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Flanigan joined Smith, Welch & Brittain as an associate in 2008. His practice areas include General Civil Litigation, Employment Law and Litigation, and School Law and Litigation. Mr. Flanigan is admitted to the Georgia Bar and Wisconsin Bar.
