Lindsay M. Hodgson was born June 8, 1976 in Savannah, Georgia and grew up in Effingham County. Ms. Hodgson attended Emory University where she participated in student government, residential life, and served as a student coordinator for the College Office of Admissions. After graduating in May 1998 with a B.A. degree in international affairs, Ms. Hodgson worked in the event planning industry for four years for a children’s charity and a national telecommunications corporation.
Ms. Hodgson attended Emory University School of Law where she was an active member of the Legal Association of Women Students, the Student Alumni Association, Toastmasters at Emory, and Just Democracy. She additionally served as both the Honor Court Prosecutor and Deputy Prosecutor. While at Emory, Ms. Hodgson interned with the Georgia Office of the Attorney General, Business Transactions and Litigation Division, as well as the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, Civil Division. Ms. Hodgson was recognized for her service to the law school as a recipient of the Dean’s Award for Public Service.
After graduating from Emory School of Law in May 2005, Ms. Hodgson clerked for the Honorable Jason J. Deal, Superior Court Judge for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit. Ms. Hodgson joined Smith, Welch, & Brittain as an associate in 2007. Her practice areas include General Civil Litigation, Eminent Domain/Condemnation, Municipality and County Representation, and Zoning Matters and Litigation. In addition to representing private individuals on a variety of litigation matters, she also represents public school districts on employment and litigation issues.
Ms. Hodgson is admitted to the Georgia Bar and is licensed to practice in all courts in Georgia, including the federal district court for the Northern District of Georgia, Middle District of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Georgia Supreme Court. Ms. Hodgson is presently a member of the Henry County Bar Association, the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (GAWL), and the Real Property and Local Government Sections of the Georgia Bar. She is also a GAWL Southside Chapter Board Member and Regional Mock Trial Coach at Ola High School.
